Following the explosion that decimated the fireworks supplies intended for the event, city officials sprang into action to develop an alternative plan. Councilman Domingo Candelas stated, "We had to figure out the budget because it's more expensive, more approvals from the federal aviation administration, from local jurisdictions.” This represents a significant pivot in how communities approach traditional celebrations, drawing from recent advancements in drone technology.

In addition to dazzling displays, the use of drones has been expanded for another critical community issue: combating illegal fireworks. Candelas remarked on the risks involved, stating, “There’s so much risk, not just fire risk, but safety risk, people blowing up fingers, hands, etc.” This strategic use of drones serves a dual purpose, celebrating freedom while ensuring the safety of local residents.
